The Stars Know Me Better
I really became interested in photography my senior year of high school. With little to no knowledge of my camera, I traveled around Europe, capturing different moments in time and naturistic scenes all around me. The summer following my senior year, I became much more familiar with my camera. I knew all the buttons, functions, and settings. This is when it became really amusing. I’ve always had an appreciation for the night sky. The colours of the night, excite me much more than day. The stars, their story, where each one really is, how far away is it, and how perfectly placed in the sky they are. One night, I captured the sky on my camera. I fell in love with photography in that moment. The curiosity of each individual setting I would change to affect the image, the sound of the shutter opening, counting down the seconds in my head, then the shutter closing, the anticipation for the image to appear on the screen in front of me. I captured it. A million little dots on a screen, that stand for so much more, than my head could possibly fathom. This is my love. My passion. My “thing”.
